Splinter will be participating again in National Water Dance, with KSD Dance and an entire online community of movers and activists! Keep your eyes on our FB and IG feeds to find out how you can be a part of our online audience, even during this time of social distancing! You’ll have multiple Splinter dancers to tune into via live-feed, as Splinter dancers perform solos or duets, featuring incredible original music by Eric Harper.

Bollywood meets Waacking?!?! Created by Kumari Suraj in 2009, Bollywaack fuses Bollywood Dance, Bhangra, Kathak, Bharatanatyam and other traditional movement from Kumari’s South Asian roots, with the 70’s Disco styles of Punking & Whacking. This cross cultural connection is a seamless union of powerful arms, elegant hand gestures, exotic poses and dramatic story telling with facial expressions. Kumari Suraj, Bollywaack and her crew House of Suraj were semi finalists on India’s #1 rated reality dance television show, Dance Plus Season 3 on Star Plus channel exposing 1 billion people to this innovative style.

Please join us for Global Water Dances 2019! We’re thrilled to be part of this international event, during which communities around the world will “dance for safe water everywhere.” As host of the Seattle Global Water Dances, KSD will present a version of Sea Change Within Us, also joined by Community Dancers who’ll take part in a movement choir moving through Lake Union Park.

Global Water Dances (GWD) performances at each site will highlight a local water issue and take place near a related body of water. Choreographers, dance groups, organizations, water activists and members of the community will gather to take action, to solve their immediate water problems. This worldwide event, linked throughout the day via broadcast and social media, will challenge countless observers, locally and online, to deepen their understanding about the importance of water in communities the world over.

All proceeds will support Arts with a Purpose programming.
