~ Auditions for Male Dancers ~

 Splinter is holding auditions for Male Dancers for the Fall 2012 Season and beyond!  We are looking for committed, dynamic  male dancers (or actors who dance) who are proficient at learning and performing various  styles of dance.  Strengths in hip hop or breakdance, contemporary, or  lyrical movement are encouraged.  A strong desire to use dance as a tool for bringing social awareness to the community also required.   Performances range from educational shows in schools across the U.S., to local corporate and private event entertainment and local community  events.  Pay is on a per-show basis, 6-month to 1 year non-exclusive  commitment is required.  Splinter is based in Seattle, WA , operates  under the umbrella, ajusticenetwork, and is fiscally sponsored by Shunpike.

Dancing with Light at the Digital Arts Festival – Next Weekend!

Splinter will be Dancing with Light next weekend – come check it out!  For all you digital freaks out there, this Festival will be full of amazing speakers, presenters and artists!

We’re super excited to announce that Dancing With Light will be coming back to the festival this year but this time performed by SPLINTER, a Seattle Dance Company that’s been pushing and breaking boundaries in the performing arts for over a decade. Splinter’s styles include Hip hop, breakdance, modern, ballet, salsa, contemporary, and jazz! This year Digital Double and Amir Stone (Creator of Digital Graffiti) are collaborating with SPLINTER’s company founder Justice Beitzel to put together another beautiful merger of performing arts and digital arts. The performance will take place during the opening night of the festival: Friday, September 21s, and Satuday, Sept. 22nd.”

ROCKiT Community Arts presents its final outdoor summer festival of the 2012 season on Beacon Hill, known as Beacon Rocks!   At the Roberto Maestas Festival Street, on Beacon Hill – between the Light Rail Station and El Centro de la Raza.  A family-friendly afternoon of music, haiku, street food (taco and crepe trucks, hot dog and ice-cream carts), artisan vendors, kids’ activities and neighborhood fun in the sun.

Splinter will be at the University District Farmer’s Market this Saturday, August 18th, 12pm.  Check out the market, get your fresh veggies, shop local vendors, and enjoy your community!    We’ll also have our new T-shirts for sale – another great way to support the work that we do!

Justice brings a mix of new-school, old-school, and a little in-between school to her hip hop classes – creating an environment that is inspiring, challenging and fun! Justice teaches the basics of breakdance, including conditioning, floor work, uprock, freezes, popping, and locking. She works all these styles into routines that are adaptable to beginner, intermediate and advanced dancers.
