Awakening – The Power of Movement

A unified commitment to personal reflection and action can lead to swift and meaningful change in our circles of influence. Take a deep breath and let unity move you.

A couple of weeks ago we announced a call for participants to be part of a virtual flash mob called, “The Power of Movement; Take a deep Breath and Let Unity Move You.”

We had an amazing response and want to share with you what transpired from this call to self-reflection and action.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to all those who participated!

Be part of the global movement of generosity on #GivingTuesday

Dec. 1, 2020

ajusticenetwork and Splinter Dance are thrilled to participate in #GivingTuesday – a global movement of generosity.

Aligning with our mission to affect positive social change in the world, #GivingTuesday is an opportunity for people around the world to stand together in unity—to use their individual power of generosity to remain connected and heal.

We believe in the power of the arts to inspire :

Hope – Connection – Progress – Healing – Change

Join us this year on #GivingTuesday & tap into generosity to find a way to support a cause you believe in. It’s not about how MUCH you give, but the practice of generosity and the spirit of being part of a unified community geared toward social change.

There are so many ways you can show generosity during #GivingTuesday – whether it’s helping a neighbor, advocating for an issue, sharing a skill, or giving to causes, every act of generosity counts.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll give some suggestions of the various ways you can give – to our organization, or any organization you stand behind!

In addition to our desire to be part of a global movement with the virtue of generosity at its core, we’ve also set a goal of 5k for this year’s campaign and we are grateful for every gift, big or small, that helps us reach that goal!

As you know, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the arts and non-profits are one, among so many, businesses that are suffering. Stages are closed, live performances canceled, and rehearsal spaces adjust to the current restrictions of the city government.

Despite all this, we are still meeting via Zoom and working to create new pieces during this time, and plan to have new offerings whenever stages open back up. Our goal of 5k will help us cover the company’s operating costs and studio space (when we can safely meet in small groups, in person) for the year, and 15% of all discretionary donations will be allocated to ajn’s newest project, Open to Awakening, to premier in 2021!

Tune in, April 18th, 1pm PST – National Water Dance Rises again!

Splinter will be participating again in National Water Dance, with KSD Dance and an entire online community of movers and activists! Keep your eyes on our FB and IG feeds to find out how you can be a part of our online audience, even during this time of social distancing! You’ll have multiple Splinter dancers to tune into via live-feed, as Splinter dancers perform solos or duets, featuring incredible original music by Eric Harper.

We can’t invite a live-audience, but we’d love for you to tune into our live-feeds! More info to come!

360:1 – if not NOW, when?

Join Splinter Dance Company as we present an evening of new and existing works that will serve to inspire complicated discussions around issues of social justice and our humanity.

360:1 – if not NOW, when? is about moving out of our comfort zone in order to understand and empathize with the reality of our entire human family; it’s about how our personal thoughts, actions, and perceptions affect the greater whole and acknowledging that true change is the result of our temporary discomfort.
